St. Andrew's Lutheran Church

No Hate, No Fear
Jesus calls together people from different walks of life - from places with different languages, cultures and customs. Despite our differences - and, indeed, because of them - the Holy Spirit opens our hearts to one another. St. Andrew's continues the Pentecost miracle that turns us towards our neighbors.
We celebrate our diversity and our unity in Christ.

We don't have to be the same to be treated with equity.
We don't have to fully understand in order to learn.

All individuals - regardless of immigration status - are welcome in God's house. We are all enriched by diversity of race, religion, ethnicity, sexuality, ability, and experience.
St. Andrew's Lutheran Church does not collect or share information about people's immigration status, pregnancy status, or LGBTQIA+ identities.
We commit to providing guidance, support, and resources to help individuals and families
navigate challenging life decisions around migration issues.
On October 10, 2025, our campus was violated by ICE and law enforcement without our knowledge or permission. Please read our statement and commitment to a safe campus here.
In response to this violation, Pastor Caleb Crainer, congregation member Damien Newton, and community member Kim Miller (with an introduction by District 11 councilmember Traci Park), presented at the December 5, 2025 LA City Council meeting. Please watch their heartfelt testimonials here:

The ELCA generally and St. Andrew's specifically stand with immigrants and refugees against injustice. Here are a few things we are doing to support these vulnerable communities:

ELCA challenge to DHS raids in or near sensitive areas such as churches and schools (filed in Massachusetts but covers all ELCA congregations nationwide). A statement from Southwest California Bishop Brenda Bos begins on page 25, followed by a declaration written by Pastor Caleb on page 27.

Letter from ELCA Presiding Bishop Curry to members of Congress urging humane immigration policies

If you or someone you know is affected by local ICE raids, please check out the resources below, or contact the church office using the contact form at the bottom of this page.

God's work; our hands
Our mission statement isn't just empty words. We stand with immigrants and refugees by partnering with local organizations who know exactly what support is most beneficial to this community.
